Luftwaffe Ground Unit Query

#1

Post by Ryanhill » 05 Jul 2021, 15:37

Hello,

Attached is a photo of my Great Grandfather Emil Foelke’s unit tag; two forum members provided very useful translations and explanations (myself being completely clueless on this field!). Can anybody add anything further? Or advise on how best to proceed with researching my ancestor’s service, if it’s at all possible?

Thanks!

:welcome:
Looks like unit was: Flak-Ersatz-Abteilung 7.
It was a Luftwaffe ground unit, perhaps you might get more info in Luftwaffe section of this Forum or other Luftwaffe forums.

Here: For sale somebody suggested ST.U.NB. as Stab und Nachrichten Batterie.

Stab und Nachrichten Batterie, or well Stamm und Nachricten Batterie ?

It reads ; Flak-Ersatz-Abteilung. 7 ( Air defense unit replacement, Battalion. 7 )

You can contact the Bundesarchiv who now hold surviving records of serving forces during WW2. Link below:

https://www.bundesarchiv.de/EN/Navigati ... stors.html

As a family relative you will have access to his records if they exist. Fees are charged for this.

Good luck,

Best,
Simon.
