A bit more information on the different magnesium alloys with their British D.T.D. numbers and what could be done with them, including Forgings, stampings, pressings etc and if suitable for welding (from 'Materials of Aircraft Construction' by F T Hill, Pitman & Sons Ltd, 1940 edition):

Further to my previous post, here is a more detailed account of the magnesium alloys available by 1940: All this appears to indicate that magnesium alloy forgings, castings, stampings etc. were being undertaken in the UK as well as Germany, USA and probably other countries by 1940.
