Post by Enekoitz » 09 Nov 2022 15:23

Dear all,

Do you have any knowledge what kind(s) of ammunition was used for the Me-262 with 50 mm cannon?

Thank you in advance,
Radek

In the context of the 262, yeah it was probably only HE shells that were loaded, as it was exclusively an anti-bomber weapon. 50mm AP might mess up a bomber but the Germans didn't like firing AP out of their 30mm against bombers so 50mm likely never fired it either.

The BK-5 50mm aircraft cannon possibly fired AP in the He-177 and Ju-88 mounting, when used against ground targets.
