Johann Pichler JG 77 Sardinia

Post by MTO123 » 06 Apr 2023 14:13

I have been researching a 24 June 1943 air battle over Sardinia from American sources. At this point I am looking to learn more from German sources if possible. In particular the pilots of JG 77, Johann Pichler most specifically. Does anyone have any recommendations for sources or have accounts of the fighting on hands. So far I’ve found claims data. Witness accounts or pilot reports would be ideal if available.

Hello, if you understand German, I have a diary for you (on YouTube). It is the story of Johann Twietmeyer. A fighter pilot who, after his training in 1943, was transferred to Sardinia to the 7th Squadron of JG 77 (which was Johann Pichler's unit). Johann Pichler lived in my neighborhood until his death in 1995. A few months ago I spoke to his son about the diary on YT. Johann Pichler is mentioned often in Twietmeyer's diary. Son Josef also lives in the same small village as me.
