This site: http://www.kotfsc.com/ holds quite a bit of useful information (click Enter, followed by Attack Aircraft, followed by Ju87)

Re: ju-87 in eastern front
Although it may be tempting not to post on this thread because it is nearly two decades old, I wanted to ask about the advantages of the Ju 87G compared to the Henschel Hs 129 ground attack aircraft in terms of maneuverability and firepower, since the Ju 87G and Hs 129 were both used on the Eastern Front.
Re: ju-87 in eastern front
I suspect that the biggest (possible) advantages or disadvantages would lie at the capabilities of the formation level- supporting aircraft, talent/leadership.Cantankerous wrote: ↑24 May 2022, 23:34Although it may be tempting not to post on this thread because it is nearly two decades old, I wanted to ask about the advantages of the Ju 87G compared to the Henschel Hs 129 ground attack aircraft in terms of maneuverability and firepower, since the Ju 87G and Hs 129 were both used on the Eastern Front.
The JU 87G used twin 37mm guns with Wolfram core, the HS 129 used an automatic 30mm gun with Tungsten core. These weapons had different firing characteristics. The HS 129 also had additional armament besides its 30mm gun.

There's serious doubts about the actual effectiveness of tank-busting aircraft. See http://www.dupuyinstitute.org/ubb/Forum ... 00016.html

One post is dated 2002 and the article is dated 2014. A lot of new material has surfaced since then.TheMarcksPlan wrote: ↑25 May 2022, 04:23There's serious doubts about the actual effectiveness of tank-busting aircraft. See http://www.dupuyinstitute.org/ubb/Forum ... 00016.html

Re: ju-87 in eastern front
Are you opposed to books? If not, any books about the Kursk counteroffensive and/or about the Ju 87 and the Hs 129 written in the past 25 years will have material on this subject. For example:
Bergström, Christer. Kursk – The Air Battle: July 1943. Hersham/Surrey: Ian Allan Publishing, 2007. ISBN: (10) 857802 388 1. Hb (oversize). Dj. 144p. Heavily illus. Maps. Appendices. Source notes. Bibliography. Name index.
Pegg, Martin. Hs 129 Panzerjäger! Burgess Hill (West Sussex): Classic Publications, 1997. ISBN: 0 9526867 1 6. Hb (oversize). Dj. Signed by author. 340p. Profusely illus. Color profiles. Dwgs. Tables. Appendices. Glossary. Source notes. Bibliography. Index.
