Hi Tomm, Ju-290A-6 was bulit for the sole purpose of being a transport
for Hitler. Original pressurization was abandoned, and the aircraft was
completed as a 50 seat transport. This aircraft was flying with KG200 at
Finsterwalde and in the last week of April 1945 flew to Barcelona, Spain.
The pilot was Hauptmann Braun, original commander of LTS 290. This
aircraft(DB being the only markings) remained in Spain until purchased
from a Allied Commission in 1950. After overhaul it was used as a
personnel transport by the Spanish airforce based at Salamanca. A minor
accident, force its retirement in the mid 50's. Thanks brustcan

I have been hunting for a reference to this Ju-290's fate. was that the Ju-290 flight from Finsterwalde to Barcelona on 20 April 1945 ?

Also do you mind giving me a reference that I can quote please ?

That means the spanish Air force flew two Ju-290 after the war then.
The other being werk no 10178 which flew to Barcelona 26 April 1945.

How did they managed to get to Barna unscathed? The Allies had complete air superiority... It's just curiosity, no pun intended here, really.

As far as I know there was only one Ju-290 that flew to Barcelona,
Spain. Hitler's Ju-290A-6. Have found no information as to who was
onboard. reference: page 190 of Warplanes of the Luftwaffe.
Thanks brustcan.

I think the most amazing part of the flight to Spain, is that the Germans
were able to "hide" these big aircraft on airfields that were constantly
bombed. Once these aircraft got up into the night sky, the flight would
go over the Alps, and into Mediterranean airspace where Allied fighters
were few in number. Thanks brustcan

The Ju 290 used by Hitler as his personal plane was destroyed by a USAAF bombing raid on the hangar in Munich where it was housed after having been flown by Hans Baur to the airport in Munich in late March 1945 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junkers_J ... _transport).
