It's the FDSL 131 gun turret of a Me 210 in maintenance.

Re: The official AHF Axis aircraft quiz thread
It looks similar to a Macchi MC.205V and the Alfa Romeo logo is on the props but the air intake looks a bit strange. Is it a prototype?
Cheers,

Re: The official AHF Axis aircraft quiz thread
I realize they are not identical but is it somehow related to the single Macchi C.202D which was fitted with a chin radiator?

Well, I don't know where you are.
Now seriously, yes, it is an italian aircraft. Here is a lateral view of the bird:

Re: The official AHF Axis aircraft quiz thread
It looks like a Caprioni-Vizzola F6M but the intake is in the wrong place so I'm assuming it's not the DB605 version?

Yes, it's the Caproni Vizzola F.6M
Over to you.
Regards.
PS: I don't understand what you mean with "the intake is in the wrong place". Care to explain?

Re: The official AHF Axis aircraft quiz thread
The intake was moved to a central position between the wings, apparently this was to reduce drag. There is mention of an F7 but I can't find any pictures so I don't know if that was just a paper project.

Re: The official AHF Axis aircraft quiz thread
Do you mean the radiator intake? If that's the case, yes, it was alter moved to a position on the belly, but that was made in the same aircraft, not in a different one. So yes, the plane in the picture I posted was the DB605 version.Ifor wrote:The intake was moved to a central position between the wings, apparently this was to reduce drag.
