I never thought I'd say this, but that Mustang is ugly. I can't pin down why, but somewhere in the development of the H they lost the beauty of the plane.

I think your eyes are accustomed to see the P 51D and aerodynamically more refined version of the plane looks fake.

The longer fuse with longer scoop makes it a like a new plane that strangely looks like a " MUSTANG " . Is this what you meant to say ?

A link to a P-51 H: http://home.att.net/~jbaugher1/p51_13.html

P 51 H is not the MUSTANG. To me it looks like an A E R O P L A N E.

Strangely A, B and C model Me 109:s looks as if they were ugly........to me that is.

Was the HE-100 ever offered for export?

Yes. The Germans sold at least one to the Russians. Some say it inspired them to build the Yak 1 and MiG 3.

No, it looks stretched, and the shape puts me in mind of the Airacobra.

Back on topic, iirc the He100 was also offered to Japan, and I think they were supposed to get jigs but they weren't delivered due to the war starting, but I could be wrong.

The P-51H is the most ugly of the Mustangs!
Completly true...especially when it's on the ground...thsoe small wheels ...way to small for such an aircraft!

THey just made the wrong deccision on those wheels i reckon

BTW One of the better looking stangs is actually not a stang (it's not an invader nor an apache!!!)

No, Tempest V had an extra course of the throttle sealed by a lead wire, opening a bottle of NOs peroxide gas well known as "laughing(exilarant) gas". It was able to feed a 20% extra-power for less than 3 minutes. This gas is used at very today on extreme high speed motorcycles and road-runners: the gas injector is still produced in Australia by a little smart company and I tested this kit 15 years ago on my own Suzuki 1100 GSXR "Pop Yoshimura" tuned for very high speed runs. Result: 316 Km/h registered after 1 km on the master runway of Pratica di Mare military airport. The engine survived only few days more. What an experience! :D

This is a splendid P51-H, but I am not sure it was the very last one. The exhausts are conventional open pipes There must be a turbo compressed evolution having exhaust pipes completely tubed till turbine hot-gases inlet. The last Mustang before Chevaliers.

I read somewhere the radiator produces around 700 kp of thrust in a Mustang.

I wonder did also radiator installation in a Me 109 and Heinkel 100D produce same thrust ?
