Ramcke's badges

#1

Post by JockCampbell41 » 24 Sep 2011, 10:43

Hallo,

I'd just like to confirm the badges of rank that General Hermann Bernard Ramcke is shown wearing in these photos:

Image Image

I'm guessing, the EK 1914 Spange, EK I, Pilot/Observer Badge, Wound Badge and... Fallschirmjäger Badge? I'm really only not sure about the Pilot/Observer Badge - as it could be either that or the Luftwaffe Ground Assault Badge. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
JC41

Yes I did try a basic search - I'm not stupid (sheesh) - that still doesn't tell me what badges Ramcke is wearing in the picture as some are obscured. It's not a question of which badges he had but which ones are shown on the historical pictures.

Furthermore, a photo of General Ramcke shows him wearing the AFRIKA cuff title but as a veteran of Crete, I was wondering why he wouldn't or isn't shown wearing the KRETA cuff title. Surely this action was of great pride for him as well as his epic battle and escape from the British pursuit in Africa after El Alamein.

Thanks very much!

So it's the Preuss. Goldenes Militär-Verdienstkreuz, ribbon from the buttonhole, the EK I. Klasse – Spange, Fallschirmschützen-Abzeichen, Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold and Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe on his Africa tunic. I think I should be able to dress my Ramcke figure up properly now!

Many thanks,

I would like to apologize for my outburst. I have no issues with my spending hours looking for answers as i tend to learn things at the same time. However having said that IIRC there were a number of threads that day with people looking for answers without trying to find them themselves, this laziness is something that irk's me to no end.

Once again I am sorry for the outburst

Sincerely
Larry

Hi Larry,

Apology accepted - I do know it can be irksome when people ask questions without having tried running a basic search and all that. In the end it all worked out well and with everyone's help the badges were figured out.

Danke!
