Japanese Awards to Germans

#1

Post by Erich2019 » 21 Oct 2019, 05:05

Hello,
I searched the forum and found great threads in this section on Awards presented to Germans from Finland, Croatia, Romania and Hungary, but none from Japan? Is there anyone who can list a few names and awards? I even looked on Google and found nothing! I think I saw one being worn by a Luftwaffe general attached to Tokyo and one worn by Otto Meissner, but had no idea what they were called.

Hello. What are your sources for Wilhelm Canaris, Erich Raeder and Otto Schniewind?

For Raeder I have this in my files: Japanese Order of the Rising Sun 1st Class on the Grand Band with Stars (9 November 1937)

Hello.
My source for all three was a 1942 contemporary German newspaper which reported on the conferment of a number of high decorations on Japan's German and Italian allies. I will try to locate the newspaper article, which was in an online archive of scanned newspapers.

Thank you. What about the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun 1936 for Raeder? Is my info that he received it in 1937 wrong?
