I searched, but except for one brief one Dieter posted with some other generals, we incredibly don't have a full biography of Walter Model posted. Who can give us a full an accurate one of his career?
Best,
Bill

Well merci beaucoup, mon ami. Haven't heard from you in a while. I don't know how I missed this one- I went through 5 pages on him on ABR. But now I'm très heureux - and probably a few others are aussi.
Cordialement,
Guillaume

Hello,

I'm note sure if I'm posting on the right topic but I would like to ask if anyone can authentify this quote as one from Model's :

The realisation of the scale of the sacrifices which had been made by the ordinary fighting man was so strong in the mind of Model that he rounded on Hitler who had dared to remark that the men of 1943 were not of the same calibre as those of 1941. “Of course they are not,my Führer” retorted the fiery General. “The men of 1941 are dead, scattered in graves all over Russia.

It's from the book 'War on the Eastern Front, The German soldier in Russia, 1941-1945', James Lucas, 1979.

I did not find any other source that refers to this quote.

Many thanks,
