Generalmajor z.V. Robert Bührmann

Post by askropp » 31 Aug 2014 21:53

Died on 1 October 1940 and is said to have become a full GM zV on the same day (until then Char. GM zV). Naturally, I suspect another posthumous promotion here. Any info?

Hello Uwe,
Robert is my great-grandfather and if you write me in Facebook or an email, then I can probably answer you some questions. dominik31231@gmail.com
Falls Sie Deutscher sind, können Sie mir natürlich in deutsch schreiben.

As I know now, this is indeed a probably unique case in which an officer died just on the day on which his promotion became effective. But I believe all orders "mit Wirkung vom" become effective on midnight, so Bührmann died as a full GM.

Now this is strange ... he should have been in Belgium, but he is still listed as being in Poland two weeks before his death.

Dear Askropp,

I found this referenced article upon Rohstoffversorgung. (sorry in french)
https://www.persee.fr/doc/xxs_0294-1759 ... _70_1_1348
go direct to page 104 the footnote 4 refer to a doc BA-MA RW 19/Wi IA 3/56 Fol. J015754 Report of the Inspekteur für Erfassung und Einsatz von Rohstoffen in Belgien und Nord-Frankreich to the delegate of 4 years plan dated 13/9/1940 and signed Bührmann.
Best regards

Georges
