Died on 28.06.1945 in Magdeburg, Feldlazarett II (not sure where this was exactly located) from bilateral pulmonary tuberculosis.

He was interred in the Ehrenfriedhof of Reservelazarett I in Cracauer Anger. According to Volksbund, his grave is now in the Westfriedhof of Magdeburg.
