Oberstleutnant Elster FK 723

Post by Georges JEROME » 11 Nov 2017 16:14

In various documents, Oberstleutnant Elster appears as the Feldkommandant 723 (Caen in Calvados) on 1940 as well 1941.
Oberst Bülcke was appointed FK 723 on august 1941.

It's not Wolfgang nor Botho Elster.
One source state he was an austrian officer.

Any data welcome (thanks)
Best regards

Hello Georges,

I am very very interested in your post as I have been researching the life of Oskar Elster, husband to my great - grandmother`s sister.

You can find all the information I have here: https://www.mikkelstante.com/english/ge ... ar-elster/

Do you think that the person you are referring to here, could be him?

That would be amazing as all my angles of research led to a dead end.

Much thanks in advance.

Hello Katharina,

than for reply. Therefore I don't think he was the same man.
the rank is different : Oberstleutnant on 1941 and Oskar was Oberleutnant on 42
the age. Oskar was too young to held such duties like feldkommandant
and all the feldkommandant in France were member of the Heeres not Luftwaffe.
I suggest you to contact the german office in Berlin which have war records of all german soldiers. If you are relative you can have access.

FK Caen and FK Calvados are the same as FK 723 from 20.5.40 (so Tessin reading "FK 723 in Caen für Dept. Calvados")
