I've found the following, I guess it's the same person.

Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Schüssler
SS-Standartenführer
Prof. at the university
Gauverbindungsführer der NS-Reichskriegersbundes

Greetings,
Mike

I can add that he attended the Kriegsakademie between 1908-1911.

Is there any documentary evidence that Schüßler received the full rank of Generalmajor?

Maybe it is of interest :
From a Dok. d. OKH dated 25.7.39
Mob.Verwendung d. GM. z.V. Schüßler
GM. z.V. Schüßler gehört infolge seiner z.V.Stellung zunächst z. FR ObdH.
Über seine Verwendung wird im Bedarfsfall entschieden
(Requin writes above that he became GM. z.V. in march 40 but this Dok. tells that in july 39 he was already GM. z.V.)

No full rank, just as I assumed. Don't let yourself be fooled by the fact that many people or documents liked to drop the "Charakter", either by ignorance or by courtesy, especially as both Charakter and full rank officers wore the same uniform and were adressed as "Herr General". Schüssler was probably placed on z.V. in late 1938, but never got a Mobilmachungsbestimmung. Thus no promotion. I wonder how he ended up back in Hamburg as he was in Karlsbad as late as March 1945. Also, as he obviously adored his only daughter who was deaf-mute and dependent on him (he even named his Karlsbad estate after her), I must assume he probably committed collective suicide with his wife and child.
