So after all 01.09.1940 is correct.
The same ignorant clerk, or maybe a second ignorant one, registered/listed him in roll 940 as "GM. z.V." on 20.05.1940 too……….

I need to ask whether anyone has a definitive date for the start of Gen. Erich von Keiser's command of 402. Div. z.b.V. I have 24,01.1940; source unknown, while Mehner has 01.05.1940. Can anyone help with this one?
