Many important records of the snipers were destroyed and thus it's very hard to know who were the highest scoring german snipers.

These two men were definitely among the top ten:
Matthäus Hetzenauer, 345
Sepp Allerberger, 257

Too bad that much of the records of German snipers were destroyed. The Waffen-SS snipers who had over 100 kills were unknown in names.

I guess the German Snipers with the most kills were more known. Funny as most of the Best German Snipers had around 200 to 300 kills+ some. But the Soviet Snipers mostly all had +300 alleged kills; propaganda or not.

Also German Sniper with 200 kills was Unteroffizier Friedrich Pein who was also a Ritterkreuzträger.

There also was Bruno Sutkus a Lithuanian-German Soldier who served in the Heer during WW2, he had 209 Kills as a Sniper. He was also awarded the Ritterkreuz.

I read about Bruno Sutkus born in East Prussia. That makes him a Prussian.

What bothers me about Matthus Hetzenauer's score is that he was a latecomer compared to Allerberger. Like Chris Kyle admits luck to be in the right place at the right time has its role. Hetzenauer attented sniping school right after finishing his initial infantry training. He didn't have das Gluck den Soldaten yet when he reached the front.

There were simple things such as knowing from sound if the artillery was going to land near you. Hasensprung (hare's spring) to move from spot to spot on a battlefield under fire.
