Re: Generals in the south of France
Here is another photo from the same day. This one shows Kohlermann (center, pointing) and supposedly Kurt Hoffmann (second from right) inspecting the defenses from the Ponchettes promontory. (Photo source: After the Battle magazine issue 110)
I see the Ärmelband "Feldherrnhalle“ on Kohlermann. The other officer, listed as Hoffmann, also has an Ärmelband. However, I am not sure if he actually had one. In the first photo he is facing the opposite way and his left sleeve cuff cannot be seen. Any thoughts?

Re: Generals in the south of France
The RKT officer on far left is Walter Evers by the way.

Your Hoffmann can not be Kurt Hoffmann, Generalleutnant und Kommandeur der 715. Infanterie-Division (at far right in the top picture).

Re: Generals in the south of France
I see your point. I saw the line of text directly under the top photo of this topic reading "hoffmann kurt" and thought that his identity as such had been confirmed. I guess that the identity of this general is still unknown?
Re: Generals in the south of France
So sorry, I must have expressed badly. The general on the top pic is Kurt Hoffmann, that's for sure, but I think that the man with the Ärmelband "Feldherrnhalle“ (second photo, second from right) is NOT a general.iggy88 wrote:I see your point. Re: Generals in the south of France
No problem. I may have misunderstood your first post. Thanks again. And now that I look at both photos again, they're not from the same day. In the bottom photo Evers wears an open-collar tunic.
Re: Generals in the south of France
Hi,
The RKT on right of the first pic is Walter Evers. Just a guess, the man on right of the second pic (with the Ärmelband "Feldherrnhalle“) is Joachim-Helmut Wolff.

Re: Generals in the south of France
I would say he is future KC holder Joachim-Helmut Wolff, KC on 21.1.45 as Obstlt. and Kommandeur of Gren.Rgt. "Feldherrnhalle".iggy88 wrote:Here is another photo from the same day. He is better seen on the right of the second photo with Evers and Kohlermann.
On the second photo (last post of"kstdk") the general between Kohlermann and Knieß is GLdI Kurt HOFFMANN.
