pre-WWII photo of AH and Generals... help?

Post by lohengrin » 15 Mar 2007 06:56

Hi,

I would like to know who are the persons on these photos (I believe taken in mid 1930's). I know some of them, but I am curious about the rest.

I would be happy, if anyone can help...

Thanks,

Clara

Hello Lohengrin!
2. von Brauchitsch?
5. Wilhelm Keitel
7. Alexander von Dörnberg?
11. Frick?
13. Seyß-Inquart
14. Raeder
Could it be the launch of the Great Cruiser "Prinz Eugen" in 1938?

If so - and I think so - the woman is Magda Horthy (22.08.1938)

on pic 128 very left you can see Horthy´s hat and his breast with orders and his cross of the order of Maria Theresia but not his face.

No 2 is v. Brauchitsch and
No 1 and No 3 are the aides-de-camp of Horthy

Hi!

I believe that No. 4 is Generaladmiral Conrad Albrecht.

Thanks Harmel!

No. 8 looks like Erhard Milch, and No. 10 could be Franz von Papen.

Best regards,

No. 10 is not von Papen. See here for a photo of von Papen: http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/project ... Papen.html

Hello Dieter!
The woman near by Raeder is not Mrs. Horthy!
Mrs. Horthy is on the pic with Hothy and Hitler. She is hidden by the civilian in the centre.
You can only see her "Schleier" (I didn't know the right term in English! Sorry!) at her hat.
Here is another pic from the ceremony from http://www.ullsteinbild.de

Hi,

No. 3 is Hungarian Lt-Gen. (Altabornagy) Gusztav Jany, at that time Admiral Horthy's Chief of the Military Chancellery, and later in the war, as a Col.Gen. (Vezerezredes) commander of the 2nd Hungarian Army on the Russian Front.

No 6 was GenAdm Karl Georg Schuster. I have this additional pic. May we assume that Schuster had a serious burn and his face was so patchy? Except for an air-brushed portrait pic, he was always this way. Especially in the pic which he was numbered as #6.

Cheers

Dear old warhorse Elwyn,

Karlgeorg Schuster was only Vizeadmiral (01.04.1938), when the launching of the "Prinz Eugen" took place (22.08.1938)

Hi Dieter,
Yes, I should have said eventually GenAdm. Indeed he was a Vz Adm immediately behind Raeder in my pic.

Cheers

I should have said eventually GenAdm.
Not even eventually. Schuster's highest rank was Admiral.
Er ist wieder da. Aber auch dieses Mal wird er nicht siegen!
