Is this the same man as the son of Curt von Einem SS-Of. 20.4.39 Born 31.12.1880 died 25.10.1939
If so he was born in Hannover 26.9.1907 I have him as beim Gen.Stab LIV. Armeekorps 1943 - 1944 then beim Generalstab XXXIX. Gebirgskorps 1944 - 8,1944 Transferred to the Waffen-SS as SS-Staf. der Reserve mit Wirkung 1.1.43 he was only a temporary transfer and he did not joined the Allgemeine SS and did not get an SS-Nr.; Chef des Generalstabes XIII. SS-Armeekorps 7.8.1944 - 13.1.45 (Succeeded Ekkehard A|lbert). After the war he served in the Bundeswehr rising to the rank of Brigadegeneral
Here is a pic of him as SS-Staf. Any extra data would be helpful

I want to attract attention to the outstanding pic posted by Phil Nix.

There von Einem shows the collar patches of a SS-Standartenführer, but evidently he was never promoted to this rank, and - to my knowledge - he is not listed in any DAL of the Waffen-SS as SS-Staf.

I can' t imagine that he could succeed in overcoming the difficulties against the "Personal-Gutachter-Ausschuss" (personal censor committee) of the Bundeswehr being a former SS-Standartenführer.

So I want to assume that he was
”für die Dauer der Kommandierung berechtigt zum Tragen der Uniform eines Standartenrführers der Waffen-SS”
(he was justified to wear the uniform of a SS-Standartenführer during the length of his delegation to his command).

I want to hear the opinion of our experts here :|

He was one of the army officers temporarily transferred to the Waffen SS due to that arm having a shortage of trained staff officers,They did not joined the SS but wore SS rank badges Here is a document from Jost Schneider which show there names and which shows those who actuaqlly joined and those who were only temporary

It's remarkable how easily he could join the Bundeswehr, regardless of the Personalgutachter-Ausschuss [Personal Verification Committee].
According https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waffen-SS ... _nach_1961 :
A takeover in permanent employment was forbidden in the Bundeswehr for former SS-officers above of SS-Hauptsturmführer!

His entry in the "Handliste" shows him "kdrt" (kommandiert or in English attached) - as does the list above.
it also shows him:
15.01.1945 FR D.r. Chef P3 (duties assigned by Head of the P3 branch of the HPA)
10.02.1945 D.r Ag P1 (duties assigned by P1 branch of the HPA - no longer a Generalstabsoffizier but assigned for troop command)
His "Generalskartei" shows him
28.01.1945 FR OKH D.r. OB West z.V. als Rgt.F.hr
11.02.1945 Kdr. Pz.Gren.Rgt. 28

All of this could have been used to argue that he was a member of the army throughout and was "attached" rather than "transferred" (no mention of "vesetzt") to the Waffen SS.

Regards

John
