Re: Die Panzerknacker- the holders of the tank destruction badge
Gentlemen,
On page 87 of the book "Obedient Unto Death" by Werner Kindler,SS-Senior Sgt. Adolf Sellmeier,(LAH)who took out two T-34s with limpet mines. 19 year pioneer Hellmuth Kohler of No. 1 Company of the Pioneer Battalion LAH jumped aboard two T-34s and destroyed them with bundled charges. SS-Grenadier Rudi Nadler of No. 10 Company 2nd SS-Panzer Grenadier Regiment LAH destroyed a T-34 in close combat, his third during Operation Citadel.
LAH is Liebstandarte Adolf Hitler.
I wonder if Rudi Nadler had survived World War II?
Sincerely,
Edward L. Hsiao

Re: Die Panzerknacker- the holders of the tank destruction badge
This item belonged to Hauptmann H.A., recipient of the German Cross in gold, the Close Combata Clasp in silver and holder of several Tank Destruction Badges in silver. He commanded 14./Gren.Rgt.253 which was part of 34 Infanterie-Division. Hauptmann A. defended a bridge of the Dnepr river with two Assault Guns of 3./Pz.Jäg.Abt.34 allowing the XXIV. Korps to cross the river. This avoided the destruction of 4 Wehrmacht divisions. His commander, Oberst Ferndinad Hippel (commander of 34.Inf.Div.) was awarded the Knight's Cross on the same day: 22.10.1943.
