Ä

Ö

# These ones aren't KC holders but were considered as such for sometime, this of course doesn't mean they didn't destroy the number of panzers in question. I guess either the documents about the award don't exist anymore or they just thought they should have received it. Another thing you must understand is that Hitler gave an order to decorate any soldier, who destroyed more then 6 tanks with a Pz.Faust or Pz.Schreck, with KC. ( Mark V's note)

¤ Please note that the list contains names of soldiers who qualified for the badge but didn't recieve it, this has been noted when possible.

A total of 18.541 of the silver and 421 of the gold badges were handed out making a total of 20 646 knocked out tanks.

I apologize for the inconsistency of the list, this will eventually be corrected. Thanks to everyone who has contributed with information to this list. I'm truly grateful for your kind help.

Thanks Marcus, two other corrections to the Bender book is that Hans Röger, Großdeutschland had four (instead of three) pz.vern.abz. and Wolfgang Rust didn't held any pz. ver. abz. at all.

Erich, the thought has crossed my mind as it surely serves as a good platform for further research. I'm trying to get in contact with as many pz. vern. abz. as possible and there will be a lot of letter writing during the following months. Anyway, this list wouldn't be possible without the many great contributions.

Here are three scans from that magazine that you might find interesting.

One more thing: that article lists Dropmann with 9 kills:
Oberst Dropmann was commander of Grenadier-Regiment 1050 when he courageously destroyed five enemy tanks on July 4, 1944. During this action he was severely wounded and lost a leg. Interestingly this is a postwar photo (note no breast eagle) which he had taken with his nine Tank Destruction Badges and Knight's Cross which was also awarded for the action

btw. I hope you'll let me post the list of the site once you think it is good enough.

Apart from the three above scans it includes photos of: Deck, Ancans, Harmel, Krätschmer, Massa, Ahrens, Bäke, Bolte, Becker, Kylling-Schmidt, Spranz & Peiper. (all with the badge visible)
It also has brief info on Ancans, Balstad, Harmel, Krätschmer, Massa, Ringholz & Dropmann.
