Did Hitlerjunge Nowak from Upper Silesia received any PVA or "just" RK (awarded on 17.2.'45)? He destroyed at least 13 tanks.

Sorry, at first posting I forgot to write his name!

Regrads,
Kocjo

In the book "In a raging inferno: Combat units of the Hitler Youth 1944-45" from Hans Holzträger are 3 photos of HJ, decorated with PVA.

Hello!
Reports from 6-SS-Geb.Div "Nord" gives a number of 5 "Panzerniederbekämpfungs-Abzeichen" awarded in 1942. After briefly checking the list so far, I found no names from this division. Has anyone got some more info?

I have a copy of the book 'Their Honour Was Loyalty!' / 'Verleihung Genehmigt!' by Jost W. Schneider.

This relates to all the Waffen SS soldiers that won the Knights Cross.

It also makes reference to the other awards won and a blurb regarding the recipient.

For example,
Peichl, Adolf (''Addi'') SS Untersturmfuhrer.

Born:December 8, 1917 in Vienna , Austria.
Died:June 4, 1969, in Vienna.
I.C. 2nd: August 23, 1941.
I.C. 1st: October 28, 1941.
Ger.Cr/Gold: September 16, 1943.
K.C.:October 16, 1944 as Hauptscharfuhrer and platoon leader in 12th (Armoured) Co., 4th SS-Pz.Gren. Rgt. ''Der Fuhrer'', 2nd SS-Pz Division ''Das Reich'', Army Group ''B'', Western front.

Peichl was one of the finest examples of a Waffen SS trooper. He participated in all the campaigns on both the Eastern and Western fronts.
He distinguished himself , in particular, on the Russian front through the destruction of several enemy tanks, and gained fame for his ability as a ''lone fighter''. Apart from the decorations listed above, he also recieved the rare Close Combat Badge in Gold and the Golden wound Badge. On his right sleeve, he wore special badges signifying single handed destruction of eleven tanks.

Thought this may prove of intrest to give some background to one of the men who won the award. Apologies if this is old news.
If there are any other specific W-SS men anyone would like background on (as long as they won the Knights Cross also), perhaps I could help.

Reference the above, the book contains photos of all the recipients of the knights Cross in the W-SS, including Peichl. I'm afraid i don't have a scanner, but his Tank Destruction Badges are visible.

No sorry, but it's interesting to notice the man standing next to him has on what appears to be reed green trousers (the large thigh pocket). They all appear to be wearing the field grey jacket. Anyone got a color photo of this???

Here is another man, who got the "Pz-Vernichtungs-Abz" in Black for one destroyed tank: Oberleutnant Heinz Monheimer, Commander of 3./(mot) Gebirgs Pionier Bataillon Nr. 74. He got the award on 1.10.1943 .
