Both are from 14.Waffen-Grenadier-Division "Galicia".

Waffen-Haupsturmfuhrer Ostap Chuchkevych.CO of 14th Anti-Tank Company.

SS-Unterscharfuhrer Karl Nielsen.

They both destroyed 6 tanks in one day during battles in Brody in late July 44.They were awarded with tank destroyer badge in gold.

Anti-tank Cmp.? Do you mean Panzerjäger-Kmp.? If that is so; I thought, that members of Panzerjäger-Einheiten couldn't received the PVAs.

Well the source book is written in English, and it says Anti-tank Company.14th Anti-Tank Company was an independ unit within Division but during battle of Brody it was attached to 29th Regiment.
They were armed with towed Pak's but these two men did destroy their 6 tanks with Panzerfaust's.

Cheers/Juha

On the back of the photo is no name, just the fact, that it was taken in Ost-Prussia in 44/45.

One of the photos shows Hermann Dropman wearing Oakleaves, but as afar as I know he was 'only' awarded the Knights Cross (12 July 1944). Who is the man in the picture?

tlcm51fr, many thanks for the pictures. I've been in contact with both Borck and Spranz. Both of them have been very kind and helpful. The picture of Baindner is new to me and so is the ritterkreuz-document. I've sent you a pm.

Best regards/ Daniel

Starinov, the person on the picture is Peter Cremer. You have to ask Gordon Williamson about the picture as it is from his collection.

Best regards/ Daniel
