Re: Poland 1939: KIA German officers
According to diary of Oskar Weitbrecht, evangelic priest from Bad Mergentheim, quoted in THIS article, "Leutnant Richard Wurst aus Bad Mergentheim" must have been a Zugführer in III./I.R. 55.Wurst Richard, 18.03.1916, Lt. d. R., -, -, 12.09.1939, VB
Edit: he could have been in 10. Kompanie. From the same article:
Scan of his obituary (below) comes from the same article (as per 2014-10-15).Tatsächlich sind auf dem Friedhof von Solka Wielka neben 120 polnischen Soldaten 95 deutsche vom Infanterie Regiment 55 beerdigt.

Re: Poland 1939: KIA German officers
Hello,
I've a new case from GHdA (2009, p.529) that isn't on the list so far:
Oberleutnant
Friedrich-Karl Ludwig von Watzdorf
* 10.11.1916 Rotental (= Czerwentzütz, County Ratibor, Upper Silesia)
+ 05.09.1939 KIA near Petrikau (Petrokow)*
*)
Petrikau = Piotrków Trybunalski, there was heavy fighting around this town that day involving Schützen-Regiment 1.
http://www.feldgrau.net/forum/viewtopic ... 30#p226920
Also Hans (123guderian) already had this about him:

Re: Poland 1939: KIA German officers
It seems it was he, who was the only KIA officer of le.Flak-Abt.83 in Poland.Albrecht Friedrich, 19.10.1888, Hptm., -, -, 11.09.1939 (Mszczonow) , VB
It also seems that le.Flak-Abt.83 took part in quite known combat of Mszczonów.

He was an officer of A.A.(mot.) 4 from 1. Pz.Div.Ploth Gottfried, 17.11.1917, Lt., -, -, 16.09.1939 (am Waldrand 2,5 km westl. Debsk), VB
And there is another officer from this unit KIA in Poland: Lt. Frhr. v. Harthausen
MIA on 5.9.1939 by Sulejów, but his death was confirmed later.
Unfortunatelly no confirmation in VB database.

Hello,
a second officer killed near Petrikau (Piotrków Trybunalski) on Sept 5th, 1939:
Oberleutnant d. R. Dr. Kurt Voß
Source: Zeitungs-Verlag. Fachblatt für das gesamte Zeitungswesen of Sept. 16th, 1939; 40. Jahrgang; Nr.37; p.5
http://anno.onb.ac.at/cgi-content/anno? ... =5&zoom=48
He's not on our list and there's no grave registered for him at http://www.volksbund.de. Here's a Wikipedia entry for him: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurt_Vo%C ... rnalist%29 . According to Leonhardt (2009, pp.84 ) who quotes from a death notice published in a Hanover newspaper Dr. Voß served in a regiment commanded by an 'Oberst Neumann'. That should make it easy to find out at least the regiment of Dr. Voss.
