The Stellenbesetzung lists a Hptm. Gutsche as Kp. Kdt. 3. (Fu)/Nachr. Abt. 53, the Korps-Nachrichtenabteilung of the XIII. Armeekorps.

Hptm. Gutsche 01.03.1937 (92)

I'm sure we can solve this. What's known : 02.09.1939, vor Tschenstochau
No Gutsche in the Stellenbesetzung of KNA 61, Chef of the FernsprechKp./KNA 61 was Hauptmann Karg
But X AK was not fighting near Częstochowa - it was fighting at the Warthe river but against divisions of Army Łódź (so many kilometres north of Częstochowa).

But only till 25.08.1939, my dear :D

Then he became Kdr. of II.(Bau.)Abt./Heeresgruppen-Nachrichtenregiment 570

Entry: gefallen bei Tschenstochau, 02.09.1939, succeeded by Hauptmann Sander.

So he could be KIA near Częstochowa.

If he had been serving in either X or XIII AK. - he couldn't have been KIA there.

Excellent, so our KIA Gutsche was Btl. Cdr. since 26.08. Which source do you use by the way? Outstanding material.

Supplements to two more officers:
von Jablonowski Hans-Joachim, 30.07.1907, Hptm., -, -, 09.09.1939, VB
von Szymonski Gottfried, 04.09.1916, Lt., -, -, 09.09.1939, VB
And here is what I have just found:

And place of death of this officer:
von Ditfurth Wilhelm Dietrich ("Dico"), 22.06.1886, Oberst, [Kdr. K. Sch. R. 9], [3. lei. Div.], 08.09.1939, Manstein-Verlorene Siege, S. 54
Oberst Wilhelm Dietrich von Ditfurth - 8. September 1939 (gefallen am Abend in Pilatka)

And:

That's really fascinating and much fun here, dear colleagues ! I thought I was too fast and had too much bits and pieces - you have the same fire rate today 8-) :D
Very short break for thinking on my side - comments on a few points and where I was addressed next.

is it meant, the body perhaps ?
Bernd,

This is quite strange, don't you think ? - he died of wounds in Lazarett and his body could not be found ?
bei Zaliskow K.O. Iy.
I think that it rather should be: bei Zaluskow (so the same place as for Steffens).

Is there even a village called Zaliskow / Zalisków in Poland? Because I couldn't find it (and I found Załusków).
Peter,
sorry, was a typo, it is Zaluskow of course, what the VB has.
The strange thing about Lt. Karl-Heinz Steffens is caused by the strange report and chronology we find on LdW. Surely based on the literature source Die Geschichte der 17. Infanterie-Division - in: Festschrift zum Treffen 1958 in Nürnberg, Seiten 5 - 59. Maybe wrong there, we have to live with that for the moment. VB entry is good enough anyway.
Short summary with translation :
18. Sep : ...17 Schwerverwundete (darunter Leutnant Steffens, der im Lazarett verstarb),
[17 severely wounded (one of them Lt. S., who died in the hospital)]
[during the night 18./19. Lt. v. B. and Dr. Twardy [Abt.Arzt AA 17 I presume] were driving even beyond the infantry security line to look for wounded. Lt. S. and 5 men were found, Lt. S. with serious shots in the head and the legs. They were transported to a hospital]
[the Abt. was on transport/transfer. Fruitless investigation for the whereabout of Lt. S.]

It is reported first that he died in hospital. I'm just wondering what it means that they didn't know where he is on 22 Sep !? Strange, the thesis that they eventually lost his body during transport is strange also, Yes. If existing the files of the Abt.Arzt could possibly solve that.

I thought it would be neccessary to do more digging concerning Hptm Hellmut Gutsche, but... man, excellent, I see you have done it with the hit on the nail by Jan-Hendrik finally !
(btw, it is always again a mixed experience to see a very good source not entirely accurate ; the "Gedenkbuch" obviously is wrong, or let's say inaccurate).

Confirmations basically we see for three officers from SCHWEIDNITZ. Death notes (Todesanzeigen) were published in MGZ (newspaper) for
Sigurd von Bartenwerffer, Hans Georg von Müller (Kp.Chef) and Leo Lothar Muris in
this compilation Schweidnitz in den Jahren 1934-1939 - Materialien zu einer Stadtgeschichte by Horst Adler http://www.schweidnitz.net/ahnen/Schwei ... 4-1939.pdf (page 47)
The difference to the VB data for Muris is : 20.09.1939 ; Hauptmann d.R. (Landgerichtsrat)

The difference to the VB data for Muris is : 20.09.1939 ; Hauptmann d.R. (Landgerichtsrat)
Big differences - Major / Hptm. d. R.; 16.09 / 18.09 / 20.09 (three different dates !).

Is it possible that this is different Leo Lothar Muris?

Edit:

I have found one more officer he is from H. Gru. Nord:
Stauffenberg II wrote:Korth Werner, 06.10.1909, Lt. d. R. [VB: Oblt.], 10./[I. R. 322], 207. Div., 12.09.1939, VB, H. Gru. Nord
von Kyaw (VB fälschlich von Kyew) Jobst, 24.09.1899, Hptm. d. R. [VB: Maj.], 9./[I. R. 322], 207. Div., 12.09.1939 (VB: 13.09.), VB, H. Gru. Nord
And here is what I have found:

http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gli ... /IR322.htm
If it comes to him:
von Diest Heinrich, 12.02.1889, Maj. d. R. (VB: Oblt.), III./I. R. 322, 207. Div., 12.09.1939 (VB: 13.09.), VB, H. Gru. Nord

So two sources say that he was KIA on 13.09, and one source say that on 12.09.

I have also found one KIA officer from 13. Kompanie of Infanterie-Regiment 368 - and he is not listed yet, despite being from H. Gru. Nord:

http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gli ... /IR368.htm
Leutnant Günter Flemming 19.09.1939 vor Oxhöft
PS: There is one Flemming listed (page 1 of this thread), but he is Wilhelm and he is from different company - 6. Kompanie of the same regiment.

And another one who is not on the list yet - this time from 14. Infanterie-Division, Infanterie-Regiment 11.
And two more KIA officers - Infanterie-Regiment 101:
It seem that Vogel is already present on the list (but without additional info), but Werner is rather not.

With regard to Major Schmarke and Oberstleutnant Dippel:
Stauffenberg II wrote:Dippel Walter, 03.06.1895, Obstlt., [Kdr. III. Btl./I. R. mot. 93], [13. mot. Div.], 08.09.1939, VB, Stellenbesetzung 1938
Stauffenberg II wrote:3. Maj. Schmarke:
Domen121 wrote:Major Schmarke - commander of II./Infanterie-Regiment 93. (mot.) - KIA on 07. or 08.09.1939 – near Żarki.
I could not find any Major Schmarke in the officers list so far. I will try further. Nor is he listed at the Volksbund site. Is the correct spelling really Schmarke? Can anybody here help me out?
http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gli ... n/13ID.htm
II. Bataillon

Major Radwan

Oberstleutnant Dippel (gefallen)

Major Schmarke (m.F.b.) (gefallen)

Oberstleutnant Knabe
And:
They used the following sources:

For Muris, we see a discrepancy for the same man I think. If that newspaper is correct about his civil position "Landgerichtsrat" (and this would be a big mistake, hard to believe) this speaks for a rank "der Reserve" indeed.

The master list is edited per the last by Stauffenberg II. New total : 625

Polish sources gives following deaths dates for the officers from 207 IR:
Riemann – 12/13 IX (night)
Diest - 13 IX
Korth - 13 IX
von Kyau - 13 IX
Christoph - 30 IX

All III/322 officers (Diest, Korth, von Kyau) have fallen in the fightings for Dębogórze (Eichenberg).

No other KIA officers of the ALA mentioned.

In the Annex only Häublein is marked as "Gefallen 1939".
