The rank of Generalrichter, Generalstabsrichter, etc.

Hi,

I have a question concerning the general-officers ranks in the legal and administrative services of the Wehrmacht. Is it true that prior to 1 May 1944 (I think) the ranks of Generalrichter, Generalstabsrichter and Generaloberstabsrichter (legal services) and Generalintendant, Generalstabsintendant, and Generaloberstabsintendant (admin services) did not exist? I read that these ranks came into being upon the formation of a special troop service which brought several Beamten ranks into the Wehrmacht. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks,

Doug

The ranks of Generalintendant, Generalstabsintendant, and Generaloberstabsintendant were in use with the HV prior to the TSD. The others I believe were formed with the TSD, I am working graveyards and did a cursory search only let me dig a little deeper tommorow after work. And your date is correct

Digging a bit deeper - read "translating" and the richter are new ranks for the following:

Generalrichter:
Chefrichter, Reichkriegsgerichtsrat, Ministerialdirigent

Generalstabsrichter:
Reichkriegsanwalt, Oberreichskriegsanwalt, Senatspräsident, Ministerialdirektor.

Generaloberstabsrichter:
Ministerialdirektor im Rang eines General der Infanterie

Hope this helps some.

The only General ranking for the Luftwaffe Justice and Courts Martial Officials was the level equivalent to Generalmajor.

No. Walther Biron, Christian Freiherr von Hammerstein and Alexander Kraell became Generalstabsrichter.
There are times in history when staying neutral means taking sides.

Does anyone know where to find the badges or insignia corresponding to the administrative, technical and legal services of the Lufwaffe and the Air Ministry?

Thanks in advance.
