Request for Identification of Generals and Admirals
Request for Identification of Generals and Admirals
Hi!
I have 3 more pics to which I would like to put names - can anyone help?
The first is a RKT, the second a Generalleutnant, Divisional commander in Italy in May, 1944 and as for the third - who is he and what is the award around his neck?
Your help would be much appreciated.
Regards,
VJK

the thrid man
Also looks like he has on his ribbon bar the EK, the Honour Cross for war veterans with swords a long service award and another ribbon with a device that might be another prussian order..? Very hard to see all of the ribbon bar clearly, is it clearer in the original photo..?

Unknown general
Does anyone know who this general is? Monocle, Ritterkreuz, Deutsches Kreuz...
It's taken from a group photo depicting some high generals with Field Marshal Rommel at Riva Bella (France), May 1944.
Any help is welcome.
Hans

Sorry for being such a nuisance  but I am convinced that it is Marcks, also comparing with the pics posted of Marcks.
Who says Marcks could not leave his glasses at home and put on his Prussian monocle for Rommel?
More seriously: does anyone know whether Marcks received the DK in Silber? There's no telling from a b/w pic whether this is the DK Gold or Silber.
Hans posted only a part of the picture. The whole one is showing also Gen.Ob von Salmuth and Gen.Ob Dollmann. From that, we can easily conclude it was taken in the 15th and 7th Army areas. Only other general I can think of there with a monocle would be Von Schlieben.
Hans, could you scan the whole pic and put it on the forum please? And are there any other pics available from the same scene?
Last resort would be to list all general officers in both Armees and just choose the most probable one.
Thanks in advance for posting Hans,
vriendelijke groeten

Hi!
I have another pic of Marcks, received from VJK. I will attach.
I think Marcks can be easily recognized by his ears. Let´s have a look of both pics from Freiherr and the pic I attach. I don´t think that these are the same ears.
Just my 2 cents.

As requested.
In front from left to right:
Generaloberst Hans von Salmuth (AOK 15)
Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel (HGr B)
General der Infanterie Walter Buhle (Chef Heeresstab OKW)
General der Pioniere Alfred Jacob (General der Pioniere und Festungen)
Behind them f.l.t.r.:
General ?????? (between Von Salmuth & Rommel)
General ?????? (behind Rommel; only general's collar visible)
Oberst ??????
Generaloberst Friedrich Dollmann (AOK 7)
General ?????? (our unknown friend, the would-be Marcks)
The suggestion to narrow it down from the generals of AOK 15 & 7 is not realistic, because this party included lots of others from Berlin (just as Buhle & Jacob). It was on the occasion of an inspection of the newly developed weapons by 21st Armoured Division. 30 May 1944. Riva-Bella, France.
If anyone can fill in one of the question marks, it would be welcome.
Cheers,
Hans
