Re: Request for identification
Great pic of Wolfgang Fleck. The Obst Schreiber next to him must be later GenLt Kurt Schreiber. According to Keilig, Schreiber was promoted GenMj 1.10.29 and became Kmdt of Berlin on 1.2.30. Fleck was InfFhr III (so Berlin with the Wachtruppe) until 01.05.31.
However, this Obst seems to bear no resemblance the tiny pis of Kurt Schreiber at Hans Houterman's site. Keilig also did not mention Johanniter Order as an award. This could be a clue.
Cheers
Freiherr

Re: Request for identification
Hi!
According to my Stellenbesetzung of Wachtruppe Berlin/Wachregiment Berlin the Commander at this time was v. Tiedemann, a Johanniter and recipient of the Hohenzollern house order ... although I am not too sure facialwise. Schreiber was not a Johanniter.
01.10.1921: Schade (Artur)
01.02.1927: von Puttkamer (Jesko)
01.10.1929: von Tiedemann (Karl)
01.04.1932: von Keiser (Erich)
15.10.1935: Freiherr von und zu Gilsa (Werner)
06.10.1936: von Alten (Hans)
01.06.1939: von Stockhausen (Wilhelm Hunold)

Re: Request for identification
Hi!
The caption says the pic was taken on 23 June 1930, by which time Schreiber was already a Generalmajor according to Keilig, so that would rule him out. My money is on Tiedemann.
Best regards,
VJK

Re: Request for identification
Hi Jürgen,
That is very useful info, thanks!
Spotting v Tiedemann is one of the most frustrating exercises. Firstly, the man in Fangio's pic does not agree with the tiny pic that Hans Houterman has. Secondly, we have come across this pic before. Caption said Holland. 207 Sich div was in Holland and this general had a Johanniter (There was another frontal pic which I posted before of the same general). Yet another man with completely different facial features
Cheers

Re: Request for identification
The best portrait pic of Tiedemann to compare should be in Kabisch (Die Führer des Reichsheeres), but I only have a low-quality and small copy of it.
Here is all stuff, subordinated to Infanterieführer III (as per as rank lists 01/05/1930 and 01/05/1931). Choose wisely.
Inf. Kdr. III: GL Fleck (Wolfgang), 1931: GM Zeitz (Hugo)
Maj. von Förster, 1931: Maj. Kleffel
Hptm. Frhr. v. Schleinitz (1931: Maj.)
Hptm. Schneckenburger, 1931: Hptm. Prüter
7. Inf. Rgt.: Oberst Metz (Hermann), 1931: Oberst Gerhardt
RSt: Obstlt. Schaumburg, 1931: Obstlt. von Kempski
I. Btl.: Obstlt. Raschick, 1931: Maj. Schroeck
II. Btl.: Maj. Moeller (1931: Obstlt.)
A. Btl.: Maj. Wendt (1931: Obstlt.)
III. Btl.: Maj. Ott
8. Inf. Rgt.: Oberst Petri (1931: GM)
RSt: Oberst Woytasch, 1931: Obstlt. Sperrle
A. Btl.: Obstlt. Hoffmann, 1931: Maj. Wolff
III. Abt.: Obstlt Brüll, 1931: Maj. Schaefer
I. Btl.: Maj. Peltz, 1931: Maj. Strack
II. Btl.: Maj. von Schauroth (1931: Obstlt.)

RSt: Obstlt. von Ditfurth, 1931: Obstlt. Schade
A. Btl.: Obstlt. Drogand, 1931: Maj. Thofern

III. Btl.: Obstlt. Busch
I. Btl.: Maj. von Marees (Konrad) (1931: Obstlt.)

Maj. Strack (only 1930)
Hptm. v. Alten (1931: Maj.)

Another one. Same source as Heye's pic. It shows General Freiherr von Fritsch. The pic is not of great quality but can anyone ID the other men?

Hi Fangio!
I'm 99.99% sure that the officer on the extreme right is Gilsa.
Best regards,

Re: Request for identification

Re: Request for identification
Hi Vienna,
I thought of exactly same thing re v Tippelskirch. But he was Kmdr IR27, 12 Div in Summer 1935. Wonder what he was doing there.
Cheers

Re: Request for identification
Hello!
I am posting 3 rather poor pictures of German generals. All taken in 1943 in Norway, at these places:
- general 1: Setermoen
- general 2: Tromsø
- general 3: Skoganvarre
While uploading the pictures, they came in this row: 2, 3 1.
Who could indentify these?
