Re: Request for Identification of Generals and Admirals
It's k.u.k. österreichischer General der Infanterie a.D. Alfred Krauss -
mit dem Recht zum Tragen der Uniform eines Generals der Infanterie (der deutschen Wehrmacht).

Re: Request for Identification of Generals and Admirals
Thanks for the quick answer, Dieter! It's nice to get a name and face of one of the Austrian bearers of the Pour le Mérite...

Re: Request for Identification of Generals and Admirals
Kirkenes, Norway, 15 October 1942: General Schörner flanked by two Generalmajors. From a previous photo shot from an other position, I have been told that the general to the left (Schörner's right) is probably Generalmajor Christian Philipp, Kdr. 6. Geb.Div. But who is the nearest one - to Schörner's left?

I agree with you, Rune: Christian PHILIPP to the left (als Generalmajor und Kommandeur der 6. Gebirgs-Division).Rune Rautio wrote:Kirkenes, Norway, 15 October 1942: General Schörner flanked by two Generalmajors. Re: Request for Identification of Generals and Admirals
The second pic shows probably Paul Hoffmann, * 12.09.1881.

Re: Request for Identification of Generals and Admirals
The second one could be Kurt HOFFMANN (Generalleutnant) or Dipl. Ing. Helmuth CASTORF (Generalleutnant)

Re: Request for Identification of Generals and Admirals
So sorry, fakatona, the man with the RK is not Hermann von HANNECKEN.
In relation to the second one, he could be Kurt HOFFMANN (Generalleutnant) or Dipl. Ing. Helmuth CASTORF (Generalleutnant)

Re: Request for Identification of Generals and Admirals
The facts are indeed very confusing and I had to look at "Sammlung Krug" - and now it is definitively
Kurt Hoffmann, born 29.06.1890
Not Castorf - and of course - not von Hanneken, who was awarded with the Ritterkreuz des Kriegsverdienstkreuzes !!
Houterman' s website http://www.unithistories.com/units_inde ... sonsx.html is repeating Wegmann's mistakes in "Generale des Heeres" (Biblio), vol. 6 !!
For the final clarification here all pics showing the correct Hoffmann-data
