ID Requested Luftwaffe [Officer]

#1

Post by Mark Costa » 21 Aug 2008, 17:11

Can anyone ID the officer between Göring and Bodenschatz? He seems to be a Luftwaffe Official with General rank -- possibly a Judicial General or Engineering General. He also appears to be wearing the Pilot/Observer Badge with Diamonds.

Gareth:

Thanks, but it can't be Diesing as the hair is parted on the wrong side and Diesing already held the Knights Cross at a lower rank than this fellow shown above. Also this man has a Generalleutnant equivalent rank, whereas Diesing never achieved this rank.

Roluf Lucht? I cannot see the collar tabs properly or the face to make any firm judgement.

I have a couple more video caps of this same officer who seems to be an Oberst of Luftwaffe Officials Rank on Göring Staff. These were taken at Göring's HQ. Anyone recognize him?

Thanks.

Gareth:

Thanks but it can't be Roluf Lucht as the hair line is different. Also the man shown here is wearing Administrative Official collar tabs as shown as an Oberst -- Lucht wore Engineering Collar tabs --which are totally different than these.

Are you sure the man is a General? The rank badge looks more like a Major or Colonel.

As I said the collar is far from clear. You may need to write this one off.

The collar tabs shown in the top photo are of a Luftwaffe Administrative Official OBERST. At first I thought he might be a General until I realized that there were no General der ... Officials. The highest rank in the Administrative Official branches was Generalleutnant. Hence this man is an Oberst. He is definately attached to Göring's HQ as he is seen often in photos and films around Göring's HQ's. As an Administrative Official he most likely would not have been eligible for a Pilot Badge and several photos show him without the badge he is wearing in the top photo -- the badge appears to be a the Pilot / Observer Badge with Diamonds -- which was given by Göring only to special recipients. A few members of his staff were given this award. He does bear a resemblence to a Luftwaffe Official named Diecke who appears in Angolia's second volume on the Luftwaffe -- both Diecke and this man above, also have the war merit cross first class. Does anyone know of a Oberst Diecke in the "officials" branches of the Luftwaffe??

In addition to the info just above I have also a photo of this man who can be seen wearing SA Oberfürer uniform in this pre-war photo at Carinhall.

It's Dr.-Ing. Fritz Görrnert (see http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 5&t=143076 ).
