Re: Rommel - inspecting the Atlantikwall.
Hello Kurt
Interesting topic , this photo should also be made at Merville ??? according to the book Rommel from Hans Sakkers
the photo should be made before 01-02-1944 because he is wearing his old coat on later pictures he is mostly wearing
his long leather coat .

Re: Rommel - inspecting the Atlantikwall.
Hello Jos
I think it is a interesting topic too
See this forinstance from:
http://www.questiaschool.com/read/71161 ... %2C%201944
APPENDIX IV - ROMMEL'S SCHEDULE, March 23-June 4, 1944.
March 23-27: five-day inspection of Belgium and the Netherlands with Meise, Lattmann,
Tempelhoff, and Ruge. Met with General von Falkenhausen (a fellow conspirator) in
Brussels. Also visited Calais and Abbeville.
March 29: consulted with General Hermann Geyer, a highly respected general of infantry
and acknowledged defensive expert, at La Roche-Guyon. Geyer had been relieved by
Hitler on December 31, 1941--(for conducting an unauthorized retreat during the
Battle of Moscow)--and was never reemployed. To the Desert Fox's delight, Geyer
agreed with Rommel's concepts entirely.
March 30: inspected the Bay of the Seine sector, including the 711 th, 716th, 352nd, and
77th Infantry Divisions. Conferenced with Rundstedt in Rouen.
March 31: lunch with Admiral Krancke. Again unable to convince him to mine the Bay of
the Seine.
April 1: in Paris, inspecting a plant manufacturing reinforced concrete and a revolving
concrete turret.
April 2: visit to 15th Army Headquarters.
April 3-5: inspecting on both sides of the Seine.
April 6: visited HQ, 19th Army.
April 7: in the Dieppe area, inspecting 245th Infantry Division.
April 8: at 15th Army Headquarters.
April 9: conference with Blumentritt, then Geyr.
April 10: meeting with Rundstedt to discuss the deployment of the panzer divisions.
April 11-14: visited Brittany; conferred with General Straube at St.-Malo. Inspected the defenses at and in the vicinity of Brest, Lorient, Saint-Nazaire, and Le Mans. Also inspected the engineer school at Angers.
April 15-16: at La Roche-Guyon. Met with Speidel, von Stülpnagel, von Lüttwitz, von Falkenhausen, and von Schwerin. Topic: how to overthrow the Nazi regime and establish contact with the Western Allies.

Re: Rommel - inspecting the Atlantikwall.
I recall another visit to the fortifications where Manfred (Rommel's son) appeared just behind him wearing a long coat and an M43 cap...

Re: Rommel - inspecting the Atlantikwall.
Interesting thread! Exactly what I was thinking to start myself
Here's another one:
Source unknown, sorry. Any thoughts on date, location and unit? I'd also like to know where I can find other pictures from this series If I'm not asking too much I'm sure I've seen more of these pictures.
This Rocket H39 just keeps bugging me... especially if this is not Pz.Abt.205. Looking for some confirmation
