Generalmajor Paul von Mayer (1887-1947)

#1

Post by Dieter Zinke » 12 Jan 2009, 18:39

Oberst Paul von Mayer (* 18.03.1887 in Dresden, + 19.07.1947 in Plauen), 20.04.1945 Generalmajor (7),
was appointed in 1945 to Chef des Stabes Sonderstab T des OKW .

I would like to learn a little bit more about this unheard-off command. Who is able for a friendly clearing up?
What means the abbreviation "T" ??

Hallo Macguffy,

my source for his RDA and the whole bio is the famous "Sammlung Krug" in the BArch/MilArch Freiburg,
surely not always complete and faultless, but much more better than Keilig - and ever a sound foundation for further investigations !

Hallo Dieter Z,

Mr. Krug -a mayor- collected after the war the bios of the generals, I know his collection.
But Mr. Krug was not a official authority, and so he couldn´t allot the Rangdienstalter for the month march - april 1945.
The promotions after february 1945 are -as far as I know- so called " Beförderungen unter Vorbehalt der Erteilung eines RDA".
I had in the early 70er years a conversation with Gen.Maj. Bachelin about the Heerespersonalamt - he explained me the praxis of the Pers.Amt.
Mr. Absolon,a specialist for the Personalamt, agreed too. In his small book about the promotions in 1945 he listed the names, without RDA.

So I think, it is not correct to speak about Rangdienstalter, better is to say "Beförderung, Ernennung".
(The RDA of march and april 1945 are like those Ritterkreuzzuteilung im Mai 1945 durch Herrn Fellgiebel !)

best regards

BTW,

his full name was Carl Eberhard Paul von Mayer and he was the younger brother of Generalmajor Carl Siegfried von Mayer (http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 4#p1837924).

Thanks Dieter for the photo
Question : sure that Sonderstab T pertained to OKW ? In Keilig´s Generalität v.Mayer´s Sonderstab T was in OKH. If OKH then maybe T stands for Tropen (or Truppen ?), or maybe after an officer´s name.

I believe it is Landesschützen-Regiment 1/XI, there being 3 such regiments in Wehrkreis XI. Unfortunately of those three Rgt 1 is the only one with no information listed on Lexikon.

So, "Sonderstab T" didn´t exhist in OKH, and v.Mayer was 1945 Roettigs Chef d. St. in Sonderstab I ?
