Re: German Cross in Gold Holders Identification
Just one suggestion concnerning Daniel's post with the Oblt. DKiG holder:
What about him:
Balletshofer, Bernhard
Oberleutnant
Stubo-Kommando 902
German Cross in Gold on September 19th, 1942
The unit emblem of the StuGAbt./Brig. 902 was totally different to what we are able to see there in the background. The Oblt. which is shown does not wear a StuG uniform and the house and surrounding does not looks like a French location. StuG 902 was only acting in France (?) and never had been on the Krim...
The Sturmbootkdo. 902 should have been on the Krim in 1942 (Kertsch etc.) what would be a hint why the Oblt. wears the Krimschild (my suggestion is that this is a Krimschild not a Kubanschild or so...)
Next issue: the tactical sign left to the unit emblem is a rectangle which means Infanterie or Pionier and by looking to that link I would suggest more the sign of Pioniersturmbootkdo. oder landungsbootkdo./kp.:

What do you think!?
