I am trying to identify a German Cross in Gold holder who I only know as "Feldwebel B.". On a photo from 12th of July 1943 he is wearing the German Cross in Gold and the Tank Assault Badge. Therefor I think he might be Panzergrenadier. On the back of the photo it says that he participated in the new attack on Bjelgorod.

At least there's three holders of DKiG from this Kleinkampfverbände ceremony, September 1944. Standing, R to L : Korvettenkapitän Fritz Frauenheim, Leutnant (V.) Alfred Vetter, Dönitz and Oberfernschreibmeister Herbert Berrer...

I don't know if it has been posted before, but at least not in this thread: unidentified DKiG holder, pictured by Hugo Jaeger (LIFE collection). I think he's from Panzergrenadier "Felderrnhalle", because it's in the same sequence with Herbert Berger and Wilhelm Schöning (both were member of that unit). Too bad we couldn't see his cufftitle...

I've had this Gebirgsjäger photo since the 80's and have posted it before with no i/d. The DK is obviously added to the photo, but it was done at the negative stage (i.e. the print hasn't been touched). Maybe he didn't return and the family wanted a photo showing his highest decoration?

Thanks,

Neil
