Hello gentlemen
if the pistol has the FP-Nr. of AR. 172 then it must be Walter Vogel
Walter Vogel was first Arko 2, from nov. 44 Arko 490
So far as I know he commanded Fort Plappeville contemporarily (being Arko 490, under LXXXX. AK), BUT he DIDN' T surrender in dec. 44 (if the photo really shows him, which I doubt, maybe he was dealing the surrender of his wounded (as reported in Internet). He became later GM.
By the way, has anybody a nice photo of him ?
Rgds., Rossano

Re: Oberst [Walter] Vogel
Hi,
did someone find a photo of Walter Vogel the last 3 years?
Would also be happy to get one of him
Regards,
Alexander

I still believe that Vogel should have had no business in Metz. Arko 2 (later Arko 490) was subordinated to Petersen's IV. Luftwaffen-Feldkorps (later LXXXX. Armeekorps) way to the south (under AOK 19) while Metz was defended by AOK 1.
