Wolf Hagemann or Erich von dem Bach?

#1

Post by Marcus » 09 Jun 2011, 21:03

Mark C Yerger gives Erich von dem Bach as commander of Korps Order from 14 February 1945 until the end of the war following Oberst Fritz Fullriede. ABR lists the same for von dem Bach but also lists Generalleutnant Wolf Hagemann as commander of the unit in March and that is also what I have in my notes.

Can anyone clarify this? Thanks.

Marcus

According to the usual secondary sources - Tessin, Mehner and Bradley

Korps Oder was formed in February 1945 from the staff of Div Kdo zbV 612 and Waffen SS. Wolf Hagemann had been appointed Kdr Div Kdo zvV 612 on 26.01.1945 and so became the commander of Korps Oder on its formation. Hagemann was appointed mdFb Korps Oder on 1 March 1945 and commanded it until 5 March 1945 when he was replaced by von dem Bach who commanded until April 1945 when the Korps was disbanded.

Fritz Fullriede was appointed to command Div Kdo zbV 612 on 28.01.1945 but this was cancelled (nicht wirksam) and so did not command Korps Oder.

Regards

John

Does anyone know what command(s) Hagemann held after he was replaced at Korps Oder on 5 March? ABR says he took command of XVLIII Panzer-Korps on 3 May but that leaves a two-month gap.
Thanks in advance
