I just bought a large framed period photo of this general. Can anyone tell who is it?

And can anyone ID the decorations for me... Is that Krimschild on his arm?

Thanks Clara

Hello! That’s Generalmajor Kurt Anger. He’s displaying the Crimea Shield as well as the impressive neck badge and breast star of the Royal Bulgarian Order of St. Alexander, 2nd Class with Swords. This is the best quality photo I've yet seen of him!

Best regards,
Shawn

Yes correct. You were a little bit faster than me. Shouldn´t you sleep now?

btw: He is also displaying the Star of Romania below the Bulgarian order. Moreover it´s most probably the Krimschild. Anger was Arko 110 and was employed with Army Group South, 11th Army until 1942.

I wonder if the right breast star decoration is the Turkish Iron Crescent. Anyway ... a lot of unidentified imperial awards at the ribbon bar additionally. I wonder if you have a good scanner to bring the ribbon bar to good effect in order to identify the stuff.

Regards!

I can make out the following on his ribbon bar:

1. Prussian Iron Cross, 2nd Class (1914) with 1939 Bar
2. War Merit Cross, 2nd Class with Swords
3. Medal for the Winter Campaign in Russia 1941/1942 (“East Medal”)
4. UNKNOWN
5. Cross of Honor for Combatants 1914-1918
6. Austrian War Commemorative Medal with Swords
7. Armed Forces Long Service Award
8. Armed Forces Long Service Award
9. Commemorative Medal of 1 October 1938
10. Hungarian War Commemorative Medal with Swords
11. UNKNOWN: However, I might take a guess this is the ribbon of the Turkish War Medal ("Iron Crescent") with an unofficial crescent moon device. A ribbon was authorized for wear in the second buttonhole (like that of the Prussian Iron Cross) or on a ribbon bar. The ribbon is red with inset white side stripes for combatants, and with the colors reversed for non-combatants.
12. UNKNOWN: Another guess, but this looks like the Romanian Commemorative Medal for the Crusade against Communism.

Best regards,
Shawn

Thanks from Spain.

Could be he wearing the Romanian Order of the Star in the middle of the buttons line, just down the Bulgarian Saint Alexander Order?

I agree with Elwyn!

He is wearing the Großoffizierkreuz des Königl. Bulgarischen Ordens vom Heiligen Alexander mit Schwertern and the Kommandeurkreuz des Königl. Ordens des Sterns von Rumänien mit Schwertern.

Best wishes.

As I already discussed in another thread, these cards of the Kgf branch are snippets from T-1021. The only other general among them is Paul Wilhelm Hoffmann. Obviously, US authorities must have had the complete Kgf officer Kartei, but I don't know if or where it is among NARA rolls.
