Does anyone know anything about Korvettenkapitän Dr. Hermann Kandeler? He is, in the strange way, have contributed to Indonesian independence by lend his Kriegsmarine typewriter in the German consul at Jakarta/Batavia and then it used to typed the draft for Proclamation of Indonesian Independence! Now the historic typewriter is preserved at the museum. I only know that Kandeler is the former gunnery officer of DKM raider THOR...

Dr. Hermann Kandeler died in Kassel on 15 March 1990.
Legend has it that he had a private chat with Indonesian President Sukarno at the Berlin opera on the sidelines of a state visit in 1956.

Hi, because it's been published in many books and articles in Indonesia. You can type "mesin ketik nazi", and you can read in-depth story about the time it's been used in the proclamation of Indonesian independence.
