Further to our previous conversation, I note that "Hitler's Legions" lists von Fabrice-Falk as a commander of the 183rd Inf. Div. during 1942.
As he also led the 383rd that year, I take it that this is a typo, though there are a couple of small gaps in his commands that year, from the infomation I have gathered so far.

Rich

Hello Rich,

Mehner and Keilig agree, no Fabrice at 183 InD, only August Dettling for most of '42 and '43. They also agree on v.Fabrice at 383InD 20.2.42 - 27.9.42, followed by F-W John. Hope this helps.

BTW have you seen Mitcham's Panzer Legions?

Jeff

Jeff,
Sam told me about it some time ago, but I haven't seen a copy yet. Is it any good?

Regards,

Rich

Hi Richard and Jeff,

confusingly enough Keilig shows Fabrice with 383 ID until 14 Nov 1942 but John assuming command on 29 Sep 42. "Die Generale des Heeres 1921-1945 has Fabrice initially assuming tempory command on 20 Feb (mFb) with permanent command on 01 Mar 42. No other position is listed until he went into Führer Reserve on 15 Nov 42.
