As with my earlier post for DKiG-Träger Kurt Ahnert, I will be posting from time to time some of the information I have on other recipients of higher awards.
Next up is Friedrich Ahrens, one of two men by that name with the German Cross, although the other received it in silver. Here is Ahrens' page at ww2awards: http://en.ww2awards.com/person/1282. Both awards there came after the Beurteilung below, but this was the latest in his file (annual evaluations were usually done in March/April of the year, and due to the military situation, most officers did not get a 1945 evaluation).
Ahrens, Friedrich Ernst Wilhelm, *6.5.1916 in Brockstedt, Steinburg.
18.8.38 Lt.d.R. (RDA 1.10.38)
1.6.41 OLt.d.R.
1.1.43 m.W.v. 31.3.43 OLt. (RDA 1.6.41)
1.3.43 Hauptmann
1.12.44 Major (83)

Re: Ahrens, Friedrich - DKiG
I beg your pardon, Dave, but you are not really intending to post the files of all 25.000+ DKiG recipients?!I will be posting from time to time some of the information I have on other recipients of higher awards.

There are times in history when staying neutral means taking sides.

No, just some of the ones I have on hand. Most of the information I have is on active Heer officers, so for the most part no Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine or SS officers, no reserve officers, and no enlisted men.
