Generalleutnant Heinrich Strack
Hello,
I have a question regarding the place of death of Generalleutnant Heinrich Strack. Keilig says he died in Bad Gastein but this death notice published by the family of his brother Generalmajor Karl Strack mentions 'Schwarzach' as the place where he died. There are several Schwarzachs in Germany and Austria including Schwarzach im Pongau, about 30 kilometers north of Bad Gastein. Anyone who can confirm Strack's place of death?

Re: Heinrich Strack
Strangely enough, Heinrich Strack's Sterbeurkunde also gives the place of death as "Schwarzenbach" (sic), based on information provided by the Wehrmachtsauskunftstelle für Kriegsverluste und Kriegsgefangene.
Also:
GM Karl Strack
* 19.07.1891 in Leipzig
† 04.11.1973 in [?]
Last address, according to the Adressbuch of Bonn, was Bad Godesberg-Mehlem.

... more strange reports: "Sammlung Krug" states Bad Gastein as place of death !?!JakeV wrote:Strangely enough, Heinrich Strack's Sterbeurkunde also gives the place of death as "Schwarzenbach" (sic), information provided by the Wehrmachtsauskunftstelle für Kriegsverluste und Kriegsgefangene.

BTW: A "Sterbeurkunde" is an official document!!

Re: Heinrich Strack
Indeed, I would also expect that it would give a definite answer, as it should, but the information on it is undoubtedly vague: no elaboration on the geographical location of that "Schwarzenbach"; furthermore, it is noted that information concerning the time of death is not known, and the cause of death, too, is unspecified.
A peculiar instance, but it wouldn't seem unreasonable if he died during an Erholungsurlaub in Austria.
Jake

Re: Generalleutnant Heinrich Strack
Attached is a clipping from the HPA appointment list of 30 Apr 1943. It appears that Strack did not become Wehrmachtkommandant von Danzig until 22 Sep 1939.

Generalleutnant Heinrich Strack
Can anyone identify his awards beyond his WWI awards and the 1939 KVKI and KVKII awards? He wears a long ribbon bar in his WWII photos.
Also, what caused his death in 1942. The latest photo seems to indicate weight and hair loss as well as a sickly appearance.
Thank you.

Re: Generalleutnant Heinrich Strack
Hello
So Strack was Kdr. d. H.Waffem.Schule until 21.9.39 (or maybe even until earlier).
Then who was in charge of the school until 25.10.39 ?
Thanks

Re: Generalleutnant Heinrich Strack
Could be possible, but Ringe´s Karteikarte reads only that he was in that school until 3.3.40 whilst I have a gap until 25.10.39 only. His Karte mentions no assignment as Führer of that school until 10.39.
P.S.: Or was the school 8.39 closed and reopened 10.39 ???

Re: Generalleutnant Heinrich Strack
The photo below of Strack was posted by docarchiv a few years ago in one of the ID threads. It shows Strack alongside the later-Generalmajor Dr. Erwin Kascher. This is pre-October 1936, as there are no Wehrmacht Dienstauszeichnungen, and Strack has two ribbons after his Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer. I would assume that they are commemoratives from WW1 allies, maybe Austria and Hungary.
The officer to the left rear, over Kaschner's right shoulder, with the double-Reuß decorations is Hasso von Foller. Like Strack and Kaschner, he went from Infanterie-Regiment Neumünster to Infanterie-Regiment 46 in October 1935 with the Enttarnung of the Wehrmacht. For some reason, Foller's career stalled and he was transferred to the E-officer corps in 1939, spending most of the war in Wehrersatzwesen.

Re: Generalleutnant Heinrich Strack
Hi Dave, do you have any information about Hasso von Foller, especially his last rank? I couldn't found his name everywhere.
