Portuguese Military Order of Aviz? Grand Cross, Grand Officer or Commander? All 3 classes came with a Breast Star.

He may have this but it also could be the Portuguese Order of Aviz, OR something totally different.
It is hard to decide which he had. Perhaps someone has the photo of him wearing this breast star?

Very interesting. It seems as if Schröder was transported to Germany for treatment and died there. Hohenlychen became famous as a SS-Lazarett, and Schröder is said to have held a SS-rank (Gruppenführer). Maybe this is the connection that took him there? Even more important, his DoD was given as 28 July, and this must be wrong as his death was noted in Belgrad a day before!

The date of death on his gravestone is 28 July.

† 28.07.1941 around 9:30 a.m. im Reservelazarett Hohenlychen

Cause of death was given as:

„Linksseitiger Oberschenkelbruch, Starkstromverbrennungen am linken Bein und in der linken Hohlhand, leichte Gehirnerschütterung“

(fracture of the left femur, high-voltage electrical burn at the left leg and left palm of the hand, mild concussion)
