Re: Erhard Milch in Heer's General uniform
I have the following, so perhaps he was in Heer uniform, but I have never seen photos of this.
28.10.1933 – 20.04.1936 Entered Army Service – with the Authorisation to Carry the Uniform of the 1st Artillery-Regiment
20.04.1936 Transferred into Luftwaffe Service

Generalfeldmarschall Erhard Milch (1892-1972)
Milch is not listed in any Heer Stellenbesetzung or DAL. The Luftwaffe was established in 1935, why should he have entered it so late? Photos from 1934 show him wearing the DLV / Luftwaffe uniform.

Generalfeldmarschall Erhard Milch (1892-1972)
Indeed, Milch was no soldier before April 1936. As there was no Luftwaffe in 1934, his Char. GM a.D. rank must have been in the Heer. On his Char. GL a.D. rank, I'm not sure. An old law from Weimar prohibited active officers from serving as Staatssekretäre. When Göring demanded Milch's activation in 1936, the Nazis did not dare to change this law, but awarded the rank of a Reichsminister to Milch, as Minister were allowed to be serving officers (see Blomberg and Göring). Two important errors in Hildebrandt: Milch was never a Char. GdFlg, and he got a RDA-Verbesserung in 1937 to make him the ranking General after Göring.

Re: Erhard Milch in Heer's General uniform
Never heard of Milch as a Reichsminister before, so he held the position of Staatssekretär in the Reichsluftfahrtsministerium, but with the rank of a Reichsminister ...
Brings me to the final months of the war. What did he do after Göring let him go? As I remember Irving in his biography on Milch just haves him sit in his hunting cabin or something similar, but I kind of have the impression that he might have worked for Speer without having been able to find out in what capacity - any thought on this?
