Has anyone any biographical details on this MajorGeneral?This is all I can find:

Hi all!

Found a nice pic of Stieff and his wife, Ili Stieff. Am I seeing things or is she wearing a monocle. Strange. 8O Anyway, nice woman. According to a recently published newspapers she was also heavily involved but could escape to the mountains and survived.

Hi!

It was published recently in an Austrian newspapers, called "Kronen Zeitung" (Krone). The pic is from Museumsverein Schleedorf, where you can visit an exhibition about the topic.

The wealthy family of his wife (enterpriser) came from Austria (Salzburg, Thalgau) where Ili and Helmut lived. It is also said that the father of his wife (Dr. Adrian Gaertner) had a lot of influence on both creating resistance.

She always wore a monocle. Passed away from cancer in 1980.

Hellmut Stieff was married since 1929 with Ili Cäcilie Stieff geb. Gaertner (* 06.03.1902 in Ludwigsdorf-Mölke, Grafschaft Glatz/Schlesien, † 19.07.1980 in Thalgau bei Salzburg/Österreich).
