I have no words to express the sorrow of this big loss. One of the most experienced and highly professional participants of AHF left.
His knowledge and books were excellent.

I will never forget his kind sharing of a picture of a Luftwaffe general named Andersen when I was having a hard time finding images of said general. So, to say I'm forever grateful to him would be an understatement. May the Lord grant him eternal Rest!

I am very sorry to hear this. My condolences to his family.

I have a very fond memory of Dieter, when back in 2007 members of the forum staff met in Berlin, where besides all the historical discussions we had a long talk over a good German beer about the peculiar name for the dish "Berliner Hoppelpoppel". Dieter was very knowledgeable about that, too! A man of great knowledge and humour.

He will be missed. Rest in peace.
