Very sad indeed to hear this news.

He set the standards for this forum and encouraged the spirit of scholarship, collaboration and friendship that is at its heart.

Askropp has summed it up perfectly - he was a giant on whose shoulders we are all standing.

I hope his family can take some comfort in the fact the he was liked and respected by the many, many people who posted here and who will remember him with fondness and respect.

Really sad to know that Oberstab has passed away. He was always helpful, and I learned a lot from him. He will be missed.

Lieber Dieter,

ich habe gerade erst von deinem Tod erfahren und bin ehrlich tief erschüttert. Wieder eine der tragenden Säulen, die dem Forum fehlen werden. Wir hatten zwar nicht oft Kontakt. Aber die wenigen Male werden mir in guter Erinnerung bleiben.

Neben deinem unfassbaren Fachwissen hat mich vor allem die Umsicht und Fairness beeindruckt, mit der du stets das Forum moderiert hast.

Ich weiß nichts über dein religiöses Bekenntnis. Trotzdem bin ich sicher, dass dich der Herr gütig aufnehmen wird.

Meine Gedanken sind bei dir und deiner Familie.
