Two more Luftwaffe recipients:

General der Flieger Albert Vierling
Croatian Order of the Crown of King Zvonimir, 1st Class with Swords (unknown if his order is with the Star…the photo shows only his head and neck!)

Generalmajor Hermann Voigt-Ruscheweyh
Croatian Order of the Crown of King Zvonimir, 1st Class with Star and Swords

Per Himmler’s Auxiliaries: The Volksdeutsche Mittelstelle and the German National Minorities of Europe, 1933-1945 (The University of North Carolina Press, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, 1993) by Valdis O. Lumans, SS-Obergruppenführer und General der Waffen-SS und Polizei Werner Lorenz received the Order of the Crown of King Zvonimir from Croat leader Dr. Ante Pavelič during Lorenz’s visit to that country in January 1944. Unfortunately, Lumans does not indicate which class it was or what embellishments (if any) the order might have been awarded with.

Shawn

Croatian Iron Trefoil & King Zwonimir Crown

#26

Post by Edward L. Hsiao » 07 Aug 2003, 00:02

Hi Fellows!

I'm sorry guys but the names that I made so far are only my guess. They need confirmation. But I imagined that all of them recieved either the Croatian Iron Trefoil First Class or the Croatian King Zwonimir Crown First Class. I know they all served on the Southeastern Front with the Croatians. There are a lot more Germans that gotten either of them.
By the way, SS-Standartenführer was the equivalent to Oberst or Colonel.

Thanks,
Edward

Some More Recipients

#27

Post by Edward L. Hsiao » 13 Aug 2003, 00:03

Hello Fellows!

Three more recipient I could think of.

SS-Gruppenführer Odilo Globocnik, Higher SS and Police Leader "Adriatic Coast"
(Croatian Order of the Crown of King Zvonimir, 1st Class with Star and Swords)

SS-Standartenfuehrer Heinrich Petersen (Ritterkreuz) 18. SS-Frw. Pz. Gr. Div. "Horst Wessel"
(Croatian Iron Trefoil First Class)

These two are that I know for certain. A third needs confirmation.

Fregattenkapitän Hans Dominik (Ritterkreuz), Chief of the 9th Torpedo Boat Flotilla in the Adriatic Sea (Croatian Iron Trefoil First Class)

Latter Fellows!

Edward

Major Friedrich Bader also received Kreuz Zweite Klasse mit Eichenlaub of the Order of King Zvonimir.

Photo of him is in Osprey's "German Mountain & Ski Troops 1939-45", page 50.

SS-Staf. Otto Lurker (CO of SD in Graz) also got one of Zvonimir order (on the photo I can see, that is neck-worn and with swords).
