He was born in Guben. According to his May 1913 marriage certificate, he was a Bankbeamter in Berlin-Schöneberg. I would assume then that he was a reserve officer in World War I. Unfortunately, he is not in any of the casualty lists and the name is too common to narrow down a unit.
He was living in Heidelberg after World War II, and his wife died there in 1958.
