https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XXXXVIII_Panzer_Corps
Commanders
General der Panzertruppe Werner Kempf (22 June 1941 – 19 Feb 1942)
General der Panzertruppe Rudolf Veiel (19 Feb 1942 – 1 Nov 1942)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werner_Kempf
from 5 May 1942 he was commanding general of the XXXXVIII Panzer Corps and was in this position on 10 August 1942 when he was awarded the Oak leaves to the Knight's Cross.

did Rudolf Veiel really command the 48 panzer corps during 2.19.1942-11.1 1942 ?? Glantz, David did not mention him at all.

zxj is correct, it is indeed the XXXXVIII. Panzerkorps (not XLVIII.) Don't ask me why they changed the Roman method of counting.
There are times in history when staying neutral means taking sides.

Can we take it a bit further: can you tell me who commanded the Corps from 31-1-42 to 19-2-42 and 30-9-42 to 1-11-42?
Great info and I appreciate it.
Best,
Bill in Cleveland (first snow yesterday- phooey!)

Kempf was the nominal commander from 6 January 1941 to 31 October 1942. He was transferred to the FR effective 1 November.

We;'e still missing the temporary commander from 30-9-42 to 1-11-42. Graveland says Kempf left on 30-9.

He did not. He said Kempf was placed in the FR at that point, but this is definitely wrong.
